No Support for Demo Maps

Windows

Use the provided Instructions, to load the maps to you're GPS. Each .exe installer has links to install MapSource, read the install dialogs.

Macintosh Map Users - Please Read

The Mac map product is slightly different than the Windows version, same maps different installation. Instead of a custom installer, you will receive a TGZ file with installation instructions. These instruction are separate from the TGZ file. You are strongly encouraged to download the free demo version of the maps and test the install before purchasing the full map set.

GPS Map

The StateDemo.img file is directly readable by most handheld GPS receivers but not your PC or Mac. Most handhelds support Anyname.img, most Garmin Nuvi's will not. In that case rename the file to gmapsupp.img to view the map. Gmapsupp.img is the universal solution, all Garmin receivers will recognize that file name and display the map. Place the file in the folder "Garmin" either directly in your GPS or on your SD card. Use the Map Center to find the map on your GPS.

You can NOT purchase via download the State.img file, so it's best to test the Windows (.exe) or Macintosh (.TGZ) file if you've never loaded a gmapsupp.img file via MapSource/MapInstall from your PC/Mac to your GPS receiver.

Map Center

* Use the Map Center to scroll to the Demo Map on your GPS receiver. If you're in Timbuktu, then the GPS will be centered on Timbuktu, not the demo map.
